Unsure about this book. It is a very intriguing story line of a place where some mothers disappear after raising there kids and strangers very rarely visit until Ruth popped into town causing a curiosity stir amongst the townspeople, especially the young teens. She is from a place elsewhere and the townspeople never talk about anywhere outside their community. The town is like a bubble and only gets supplies a few times a year by the same man Mr. Phillips. And then the question of who this Mr. Philips is and what his story is plays in your head since the First Impression did not hit on this part of the story much.
Vera is the young lady we are introduced to who is telling the story. She lost her mother before adulthood because the afflictions chose her mother to disappear. I am intrigued about who or what the afflictions are and curious about the picture that hangs in the hall with a young girl who seems to be blurred (affliction ?). Also curious as to why Vera and her best friend Ana became unassociated with each other and why Ana distanced herself from Vera.
After reading the First Impression of Elsewhere, I want to see where the story line goes but not sure if the book will keep my attention or not. The writing style seems a little slow for my liking but I wouldn't mind attempting to read it since the plot and story line are intriguing. It is expanding my normal reading genre.
