What really caught my attention was the cover and the blurb, “darkly captivating with elements of Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery”. Wow! This book sounds so dark. I think this book would be such an interesting read because of the exploration of the motherhood role. What comes with the title of mother? What does it mean to be a mother? As a mother do you lose your familiar self? I think Vera is going to be a strong, well-developed character and will be captivating to read about her journey—“will she be able to stay and be a mother to her child or will she disappear?”
