Right off the bat, I think the cover reminds me of older publications. It is nice art but not exactly something I’d associate with a modern publication. The excerpt shows to me that the author may have a descriptive writing style. The flowery language is a good fit for some readers, but I personally have to be in the mood for it or else I get bored. I don’t have the same attention for loads of details, but I appreciate a decent set up and attention to the story. The excerpt however suggests to me that this isn’t one I’d typically go for, but I can put it on my radar to suggest to those I think would like it more
