I haven't read Schaitkin before but...
If the concept wasn’t already interesting enough, from the very first line, the author captures you - ‘we lived high above the rest of the world’. The poise is practiced, thought out, and instantly magnetic. I could easily get lost in the pages, and find trouble getting back out again. From the very first chapter, the atmosphere is a caul over the story, but it only serves to support the story and it’s narrator. I have never read Alexis Schaitkin’s work before now, but I definitely look forward to finding her other work and giving it a try.
