The cover of Elsewhere is striking and gorgeous. Upon reading the first 30 pages, I know that I must read the entire book. The prose is quiet, beautiful, and lyrical. So many settings and genres to mind. With the descriptions of the setting and the climate, I immediately thought of the Pacific Northwest of the Twilight books. That perspective then flew to Bavaria with the mention of the street names which were obviously German. In the vein of Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery with elements of Jessamine Chan’s recently published The School for Good Mothers and Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight, this book still most definitely stands apart.
