I read Ms. Schaitkin's previous novel, "Saint X", and thoroughly enjoyed it. So I was looking forward to reading the excerpt of her latest novel, "Elsewhere". I enjoyed the first 26 pages of "Elsewhere". This novel is off to a great start. The characters, plot, and setting are well described and are so interesting, that it wanted me the reader wanting more.
"Elsewhere" is the town in which the main character Ruth lives with her father (along with his second wife and children), friends, and other residence. Since the beginning of this town, mothers have disappeared. There is no reason give and no commonalities as to why this is happening. The town is also isolated from others, except for the supplier, Mr. Phillips, who comes to the town four times a year with the requested supplies. The inhabitants of this town do not question their ways, or make any attempt to leave. Other than Mr. Phillips, strangers are few and far between, until Vera arrives.
I'm looking forward to reading this novel in its entirety!
