4.5⭐ - this book started off a little slow/confusing, but once it got going, it was excellent. I flew through the last half of the book because I didn't want to put it down.
It touched on a lot of deep and heartwrenching issues, and did it with great nuance. There were quite a few topics covered, but none felt forced or contrived.
I loved the relationships developed in the book at all levels- familial, friendships, and romantic. There were a few side characters that I'd have loved to get to know better, but there was great character development for the main two characters, as well as those who interacted with them most.
This was my first book by Katie McGarry, and I definitely would like to see what else she's done!
