I knew I needed to read this book as soon as I read the sneak peak. I had a hard time putting this book down from page one as this author had me believing in the world she created and made me fall in love with Veronica and Sawyer immediately (I even gave up sleep for just one more chapter too often). The characters all jumped off the page and I felt as if I was watching everything happen before my own eyes. The writing is both lyrical and concrete.
The emotional pulls inside this book are amazing--I experienced joy, fear, anger, anticipation, disappointment, and even falling in love as I read. The author surprised me often which I always enjoy and made me question the existence of spirits and ghosts. She also made me think about death and what comes after and I enjoyed the discussions of heaven, God, and free will. This book is one I both couldn't wait to finish, yet didn't want to say goodbye at the same time.
