I've never read anything by Katie McGarry, but this one sounded interesting, so I was looking forward to checking it out. I'm a fan of this genre, but this book just didn't work for me. I found some things to be a bit unrealistic of today's teens, and the romance trope used in this story is a bit overdone, especially in young adult books. Thankfully, it was a huge part of the story.
I liked that the story was told from two points of view, and I really like the cover. Sawyer and Veronica seem to balance each other out in some ways, which did make some parts a bit predictable. I also enjoyed the paranormal twist, which did make it a bit different from your typical young adult story. While I wasn't in love with the book, I'd be willing to check out other books by this author.
