The beginning line of the chapter illustrates that the reader should be wary as this town is not one where happily ever afters live. Then, as the story progresses with the actual main characters, it seems that the first impression piece is not enough as one does not learn enough, or anything, about the main character. This shows that there is definitely more to be seen, but as there was no action or anything to relate to, it seems that we are left without much to wonder about.
