The First Look of Echoes Between Us by Katie McGarry was intriguing. It was well-written, and felt authentic. Veronica, the main character is in a period of transition. She is a high schooler and self-proclaimed misfit; she is in love with Leo, but he is leaving for college. Her friends have graduated or are on an advanced college track leaving her isolated and alone, and now a popular, new boy is moving into an apartment in her home. Veronica doesn’t drive with the excuse that the insurance is too expensive and because they live in the middle of a small town. However, the truth is she suffers with such debilitating headaches that she doesn’t want to cause an accident. Veronica may be different, but she appears thoughtful. Life for Veronica is about to change and I look forward to finding out how.
