The Echoes Between us snippet introduces us to Veronica and a small set of friends who are preparing for college and about to leave her alone for her last year in high school. We are also distantly introduced to a group of popular kids which includes Sawyer, the All-American boy who recently moved into a space where Veronica lives.
I felt that this first look gave a good set up to the characters and the bleak town they live in, but I felt the characters to be a bit standard or run-of-the-mill. You have your quirky, "misfit" girl and the All-American rich boy who would never have any interest in conversing with the girl, except he will.
The ghost/haunted house hints are interesting, but overall, nothing seems surprising or "new" in terms of characters so I will end up passing on continuing this story.
