It is obvious that Mayday is a very talented artist. I love her drawings and getting a chance just to see how she creates her art seems like an honor. Her drawings inspire the joy I remember as a child looking at artwork like hers.

However, if you are a novice drawer who is still working on perfecting stick figures, this book may be too advanced for you. She does show how to draw animals, but she does make the assumption that you can draw the basics of animal forms (which I cannot do, at least not effectively).

But if you can do this, then you will love this book! It is set up like a standard craft book in that there are the fundamentals of drawing explained and what tools you may want to collect and use. The book shows full color illustrations and she does show what the finished project looks like. She also puts the drawings in scenes to show you how the animals can interact with other objects.

Honestly, even though I am a terrible drawer, I just love looking at her illustrations!

Thank you to BookishFirst and the publisher for supplying me with an advanced copy to read. All opinions are my own.
