This was so good! I really liked that the characters were flawed and that was okay. Gii had to overcome quite a few demons and it made him more real. I loved having Solene by his side. She added a whole other layer to the story and I loved the witch element.
This was high fantasy at its finest. The author wasn't afraid to make hard calls with his characters or story and I loved that. I am not a fan when things are just tied with a bow and Hamiliton doesn't do this. Things get pretty gritty and with this genre you need that.
I also really liked the world with dragons. It was different for me and one that I completely fell into easily. The author writes beautifully and he shined with his descriptions. I honestly can't wait to read more from him!
