Where to start with Dragonslayer....I think the first thing to note is that the first 37 pages feel very much like a traditional fantasy book; disgraced and brooding knights, dragon hunting, treasure seeking, and the idea of lost/former glory all abound in this sample. However, it is also made apparent in these first few pages that things are not going to play out as they first appear.

The first sense an avid reader of fantasy (like me) will see if the fact that the dragon has a point of view in this story. It is not some symbol of greater contextual evil, but instead, is another character for the reader to identify with, and possibly even root for.

Based on the beginning of this book, I would have to say that I am curious to see how the author approaches other classic ideas from traditional fantasy and plays with them. Mostly, I am interested to see how the myriad of characters play off each other and push each other's narratives forward. Dragonslayer, you have me interested, let's see if that interest turns into a passion when I get to read you in full!
