High fantasy can be a bit hit or miss for me. I love magic and uncharted lands and sword fighting, but I usually can't stomach the thought of reading 600+ pages. A high or epic fantasy novel of that length tends to have pages and pages of battles followed by pages and pages of info dumping of world building which can get pretty taxing. However, Dragonslayer intrigued me almost from the start. The concept was interesting, but Hamilton immediately throws you into a story of intrigue that I'm interested in finishing.

But let's face it, I'm mostly interested because dragons, y'all.
