Dragons are, as always, like fantasy catnip
You may have heard of "horse girls" growing up - girls who were extremely into horses and horse-based media. I'd like to put forth the idea of "dragon girls" (or boys!) - kids who are REALLY into high fantasy media containing dragons. If I'm being full honest, I was probably a dragon girl... so yes, my attention was very piqued by it.
I appreciate the POV shifts to said dragon. It will definitely make the inevitable "final showdown" more impactful for the reader.
I know it's not possible given the constraint of the excerpt, but I really wish we had been able to read a bit about Solène, mentioned in the blurb.
The cover is fine, if not groundbreaking. It properly reflects the high-fantasy trappings of the book.
