Do You Follow? is a twisting thriller that has you hooked from the first chapter. Alexa and her twin sister, Beth, have had tragedy in their young lives and are trying to become independent. Alexa seems a little more together, getting a job and finally moving out of her father’s house and into her own apartment, while continuing to see her therapist. Beth on the other hand, comes off as still struggling with some type of mental illness.
As the story unfolds, Beth shows up at Alexa’s door as soon as she moves in and wants to stay with her. Alexa seems to be trying really hard to move on with her life and move past their past, but Beth almost seems to be trying to thwart her from day one. When Alexa brings how a boyfriend, Beth seems set on convincing her that he’s dangerous but Alexa refuses to listen. As we learn more about the girls, things just aren’t what they seem and it’s hard to tell who is really the dangerous one.
Unfortunately, the advanced copy I got had a huge spoiler in the summary on the back of the book and it kind of ruined it for me. I feel like if I hadn’t known what I went into the book knowing, it might have been a 5 star read for me. It was good but I had to keep trying to tell myself to think about the storyline like I didn’t know. Hopefully that got removed before print!
