Disappointed
Just say no to Do You Follow?
I expected to love this book, but all I felt was frustrated all the way through.
The story is predictable, yet implausible. Certain aspects had me rolling my eyes. I needed more realism in a story of this sort.
Mental illness is portrayed with extreme creative license. All I can say without spoilers is that lots of what goes on does not fit the big reveal. I've done a ton of research on the diagnosis in question. What we have here is too much of a mashup of many things, rather than the reality of what would be. I get extremely irritated when mental illness is used a ploy for convenience.
The final twist is one of those “seriously?” moments. No way could I make that leap.
None of the characters had the complexities necessary to make them feel like real people.
Unfortunately, Do You Follow? was a total disappointment for me.
