The book opens with Alexa being questioned on the murder of her boyfriend Curt. Alexa claims that she is not responsible, but knows who is...her twin sister Beth. Alexa and Beth have been estranged for awhile. Beth was kicked out of the family home for reasons that have yet to be disclosed. Through the narration of each sister, we find out that Beth is the more dominant of the two and has pretty much stalked Alexa during childhood in order to protect her (??).
