I really liked the first section of this first look - the prologue before we jump back a few months to where it all began. I love when a book opens with that type of set up. Unfortunately for me it did lose a little bit of steam after that. It wasn't bad, but it all felt a little bit too expository for me. It was just a little heavy handed with the background right out of the gate.
