This first look definitely made me interested in reading on. I'm curious as to what the incident was that split up Alexa and Beth, and what their dad has to do with it. I also wonder how the new connection between them will go. I like being able to see into both of their heads, because they already have distinctly different personalities.
The only thing I don't like is the pop culture references. They age the characters weird, because I still can't tell if they're fresh out of community college (like 20) or grown women (30s).
I also think the way the pandemic is being treated is weird. Almost like it's over and it's just a memory. I wonder how that will play into the actual events of the book (or if Beth will talk about her time in the mental hospital while in the pandemic).
