My first impression of the book, just from looking at the cover, was that it was going to be otherwordly: the cover is simple yet alive, the colors of the jellyfish making me think that it was going to be some sort of oceanic magical realism. But upon reading the First Look, I found that the otherworldliness was in the intergenerational trauma, the split of identities in a country full of racial tension even to this day.
