This book could go either way for me, thumbs up or thumbs down. Really depends on how the story develops in subsequent chapters. A somewhat cliche beginning but the author exhibits good world building skills without info dumping. Honestly this is something I'd probably pass up based solely on the description, although the sneak peek did keep me reading until the end. So, it's a neutral read for me. Maybe because I've been disappointed with similar plot lines.
