Alright, so I’m just… I’m just speechless. Well not COMPLETELY speechless because I do need to write a review, but you get my point. I’m honestly still processing what I just read in this book. I finished it like five minutes ago and my emotions are EVERYWHERE! From the very first page, I was captivated. I seriously don’t think I’ve ever been so captivated by a book by sheer atmosphere alone. Ginny Myers Sain truly painted a picture and created the best ambiance in this book, and I don’t think I’ll ever truly get La Cachette out of my mind.

While there were a couple of times where I feel certain things should have been portrayed better, this book was incredibly immersive. There were so many moments where I really felt as though I was there with Grey and experiencing everything along with her. Every sight, smell, emotion, I felt all of it and it has caused a MASSIVE book hangover! It has been so long since I’ve been so enthralled in a book and it’s never really been because of the sheer environment. Now don’t get me wrong, there have been some pretty good world-building in other books I’ve read, but this author had SO MANY components that went into building this deep south ambiance, that it’s just… wow.

Now for the story. There was never a moment when I was bored. This is the mark of a good thriller in my opinion. When I feel the constant need to keep turning pages, that’s how I know it’s a good thriller! Every page had so much substance to it. That’s the best way I could put it, to be honest. Each page was dripping with a dark and suspenseful atmosphere, and I could see everything playing in my head. It was one of the best thriller movies (I mean book…) I’ve ever seen (I mean read…)!

Ugh… there is no way you could understand how much of an emotional impact this book had just based on this article. I wish I could express it so much better, but this is the best I can do. This is an author that I obviously plan on keeping my eye on as she publishes more (this is her debut novel). Anyway, I beg of you to pick this book up when it’s released if you’re interested in a thriller!
