The first thing I noticed with this book was the drawings that come before the chapter and with each chapter number. I think that was a fun thing to do that more books should also do. On top of that, I think the author jumped really quickly into the storyline which readers will enjoy. Overall, I didn't love the way that the story started though because it felt a bit unrealistic (in regard to the character friendship) but that could be my age speaking.
