From the start, the setting descriptions are incredibly effective for someone like myself who has never read a book set in the Bayou area. Thrillers are some of my favorite books, and this one is sure setting up to be a great one with so many possibilities of secrets and lies in a small community of people. I think the cover doesn't blatantly express what the story will be about if you remove the title, but the contrast of flowers and an eerie alligator eye perfectly sums up the spooky premise and how the good and the bad inevitably exist. From the first impression, the story is incredibly interesting and it seems as if every character mentioned has something more to them, which definitely compels me to want to read more.
