Immediately we are sucked into a world where Grey and Hart are dealing with the fact that their best friend had been missing for a while and Grey is having visions of sorts about what happened to her. One of 10 children born of the summer, three who are now dead or missing, Grey is pulled back into a world of mystical power, one where she had originally stood out without a gift. Intriguing from the get go, the reader is left to wonder about what actually happened in the past, whether Elora is alive or dead, and how the many mysteries will be solved in the future. There is a hint of romance stirring as Grey and Hart become closer through shared grief. However, Grey seems to be developing her own psychic gift as her desire to be reunited with her friend becomes stronger, despite most believing Elora to be dead. I've been hooked since the first page and can't wait to read more of it. Great young adult novel that could be something I recommend to my students as it is filled with mystery, intrigue, and the supernatural, genres many of them enjoy.
