Dark and Shallow Lies reminds me of the small town in Where the Crawdads Sing, intriguing and mysterious. A place where secrets are kept and outsiders are not welcomed. Throw in some alligators, snakes and a humid bayou and you've hooked me for this mystery of a missing best friend.
