Set in coastal Louisiana, amid the swamps and creatures of the bayous, a teen girl goes missing. Despite a prolonged search, she is still missing 4 months later when her best friend returns to the tiny community for her annual summer visit. The description of the climate, especially the water and the vegetation, brings back memories of the few years I lived in the state. I enjoyed the excerpts between chapters, told from someone else's viewpoint--perhaps the missing girl? There's more than meets the eye in this novel and the cover has a mysterious element to it as well.
