Dark and Shallow Lies has a great beginning. The writing gives a lot of great descriptions, and I could almost feel the swampy heat as I was reading. The mystery surrounding Elora’s disappearance clearly had a deep impact on the main character. And so far, I really like the town and the abilities of the characters.
