I was really excited to read this book after reading the sample. I don't think it disappoints. Darius is an interesting character, and I think the author did a lot to develop a 3-Dimensional character that teens can relate to. I love that Darius struggles with belonging to two cultures. While this is not something I personally have dealt with, I think it's great to see it finally appearing in teen fiction.
I also like that the author includes the struggle with depression. This is such a real problem that so many young people are dealing with; I'm glad the author took a respectable approach.
I've read a lot of reviews where people like that the author did not explain everything outright. I usually prefer for things to be explicitly stated, but in this case I found it to be refreshing. Overall, I think this book was a fresh take on teen fiction and a voice that needs to be heard.
