This book honestly deserves five stars due to its intended audience (which isn’t me, an adult). If it were written for a full-fledged adult, I’d probably have given it four stars.

What an incredible, eye-opening journey into Iran and the mind of an American-Iranian adolescent with depression. This book is so perfect for high-schoolers. So real to life, in my opinion, and I’m a very harsh judge on what feels real-to-life in books and their dialogues.

I didn’t get a lot of the Star Trek references, but the fact that it didn’t make a difference to my understanding of Darioush - the protagonist’s - feelings, just goes to show how well this book was written.

Bravo to the author for this wonderful work. Thank you to the publishers for an advanced copy to read!
