I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one
I actually heard of this book from another book blogger and I thought I wouldn't enjoy this one. It turns out I was wrong.
DARIUS THE GREAT IS NOT OKAY is a coming of age story including a Persian main character. I don't know anything about the culture so I thought it was interesting to read about the culture. However, I felt that if the character had not been Persian, then this character (and the novel as a whole) would seem generic.
Overall, this novel is filled with genuine friendship and drama. Other than that, other subject matters like finding one's identity, discovering one's sexuality, and finding meaning/connection to the world sparked my interest to read the rest of this novel. I'm definitely recommending this one.
