Adib Khorram has created a masterpiece with Darius the Great Is Not Okay. Darius can only be described as an outsider or wallflower as a half-Persian from his mother's side at his American high school. Darius knows more about Klingon and the Hobbit than the "normal" social cues of every day life, and even less about his Persian heritage. Darius's life is additionally complex as he lives with clinical depression, and his father a disapproves of his existence in general.

BUT, when his mother's father is diagnosed with a brain tumor, he goes to Iran to meet his mother's family. Despite having little knowledge of this aspect of his "family," Darius finds himself feeling more like himself in this "foreign" country than he ever did at home. And, for the first time, he has a true friend, Sohrab that helps Darius be himself in a way that no one ever has.

This book is filled with a roller coaster of emotions. You'll laugh, you'll cry...you'll want to know more.
