A great beginning to what I can only imagine sees Darius getting into the same hot water that he makes tea with. I love the contrast from the first page between Darius' thirst for knowledge - how to best brew different teas - and his boss Mr. Apatan's insistence that everything stay the way it is. I take this as a foreshadowing of Darius' relationship with the world at large.
