One of my favorite things about reading is the chance to see cultures and points of view that are totally different from my own. I think every time that I do that, and any other reader does that, it breaks down a bit of the barrier that seems to separate everyone these days. One culture that seems to be more feared and misunderstood by Americans is the Iranian one.
I love that this story will open up the world to my eyes, as the main character is learning about his culture and himself. I can only imagine how difficult it is to fit into any one culture when you are a mix of two that are so very different from one another.
With so many suicides in the news recently, and depression being one of the mental health issues that we tend to keep quiet about, it is great to see this book tackle that issue as well.
This book looks to be one that will be both enjoyable and insightful.
