A book about not fitting in...
The opening lines catch my attention with a nod to Tolkien's dragon Smaug, most certainly, we're kindred spirits or nerds. I find that I can imagine the setting with the simple, yet boldly descriptive words painting a vivid image. Within in the first few sentences, I am hungry for more about Darius, the boy who is not okay. His character is deeply relatable to anyone who might consider themselves a "wallflower" or "invisible" among the crowd.
