Overall I enjoyed this book. But I think the author could have done so much more. The idea was imaginative and fresh but the execution was lacking. I would have liked to have seen more character development. By the end of the story I didn't feel any strong attachment to any of the characters which I think is important in any good story. There was a love triangle unfolding but I didn't have any real care who the main character ended up with. And the end felt rushed. We barely meet the villain before the story was just over in a matter of a few pages, wrapped up in a nice, neat bow. I don't think I have enough interest to continue to the series. Frankly, with the villain out of the way I am not sure where a book 2 is even needed.
