Strong start but lost my interest

This book had a great first look and an interesting concept but evetytime i sat down to read it i kept losing interest. The characters have good agency and are dynamic, and the style of writing is balanced. The settings are decently detailed but short of evokative, easy to let your own assumptions guide you instead of a clear vision from the author. The general plot ended up feeling more trope-y than it seemed like from the first couple of chaoters. It felt as if the suspense that the author was going for was continually oscillating between too many high stakes characters. Having too many threads to follow makes it hard to read this style of book without being able to sit down and devour a huge chunk of it in one sitting.
I feel that a lot of people are going to really enjoy this one, it just isn't for me and I don't think I'll be finishing it anytime soon.
