I have never read a pirate book that wasn't a romance, a farce or a caricature of pirates. This book starts strong, serious, and very real. I enjoyed the fact that a woman was a pirate without a sexy description of her, the lover wasn't the hero, and family takes care of family. Then we turn to the man, and his point of view. This works too. I'd like to read more of this book.
