Starting off with a character on the brink of death, full of stubborn pride, and the scorn of the crowd around... what a way to create some amazing underdog energy. This is the type of opening that grabs thw attention of any reader (especially me) and makes me get a lil salty that i don't have this book in my hands to turn through.
