I have tried crochet in the past. I wasn't very good at it. I can sew, embroider, cross stitch and needlepoint with ease. I can quilt and knit well enough for home use. But crochet seems to be beyond me. Maybe it was just the simple plain patterns I had. Trying the fanciful designs in this book may be just the inspiration I need.
