I really enjoyed Coven. First, the art is smooth and the colors stark. So visually it's very engrossing. Second, I love the story. This story is different from than teen witch stories that I have read in the fact that the main character is a lesbian and when she moves across the country she has a family. By the end no matter her feelings, it is her coven. I loved watching her embrace her power and immediately try to help her cousin. Emsy's story isn't dragged down too much by school. No lab classes and golden onions here.
One of my favorite things is the details on the kitten. I loved the angry face the artist gave him. In fact, the kitten had a range of emotions that are drawn in a variety of ways. No typical hissing cat here. I love that busted stereotype.
