With the cover and premise I was immediately drawn to the novel. In addition to it being a graphic novel I was looking forward to the creative liberties that were going to be taken as we have a witch with pryokinesis powers and a background of upstate New York. Yet as I continued to read neither the writing or illustrations were anything mind-blowing. I know that this falls under the YA genre but the writing came off as juvenile and not adding much this already packed filled genre.

My opinion is only a reflection of the first 40 pages and yet even its introduction was not the strongest. We get a quick flashback scene of an injured boy and then quickly cut to our main character and her conflict. Not giving us enough time to even figure out or connect to this initial character and why we should care that there's been an accident. We're just immediately thrown into it all and like the main character, don't care or understand why we should care about this coven.
