This book was good, but not life altering. I loved the art style, but I did struggle through parts of this (very short) graphic novel. Not everything can be Heartstopper and that's okay, but I want to love them all that much. I think the STORY is the part that fell flat for me. It was easy enough to read when I was in the middle of it, but I struggled to pick it up after I had set it down. The characters were pretty flat and Emsy's parents annoyed me. They ripped her away from her life and threw her into the complex dynamic of a coven and expected her to be okay. If you didn't prepare your kid to be a witch how can you get mad at them when they have no idea the consequences of their actions? The art was truly stunning and kept me turning the pages! I love the training sections in the woods where the art really had a chance to shine with the beautiful fall color!
