Coven is a YA graphic novel has a little bit of everything - paranormal, mystery, teen angst. Emsy is forced to leave her life in California and return to the east coast when her family's coven is threatened by an unknown murderer.

The mystery itself doesn't really take center stage; instead, Coven focuses on Emsy as she attempts to fit in at her new school and understand more about her family's coven and her own witchy powers. My favorite part of the story was Emsy's overall journey to find her true self. My only complaint is that the ending felt a little rushed. After finishing I'm not sure if this is a standalone book or part of a series? I still have a few questions.

I loved the illustrations. Each panel is beautifully rendered and really adds to the story. The graphic novel is the perfect format for this particular story. The illustrations bring the characters to life, and many times words are not needed.

Overall, I really enjoyed this witchy read, perfect for fall reading!
