SYNOPSIS:

In this queer, paranormal YA graphic novel debut from the author of Some Girls Do and the illustrator of Wonder Woman: Warbringer, a young witch races to solve the grisly supernatural murders of her coven members before the killer strikes again.

MY THOUGHTS:

This is my first new witchy graphic novel in a long long time and I really enjoyed it!( Did anyone read Winx or W.I.T.C.H?). It is a story about young witch Emsy who is forced to step in to her powers after a mysterious tragedy happens at her family's coven (trying not to spoil the story). Emsy moves back with her family from sunny California back to spooky New York State, leaving her school, girlfriend and friends behind. There is a lot of angst, anger, secrets and teenage drama involved.
The illustrations are absolutely beauiful, the details are stunning as well as the attention to detail by Kit Seaton is fantastic. I loved studying some of them for a long time.
Overall I really enjoyed the story, the one thing that I wished was little different was the pacing, you get a lot of buildup, drama and secrets that were happening through 95% of the book and then the "big reveal/battle" happens in just few pages. I was hoping for little more closure. The novel does not end on a cliffhanger per say but I think it leaves opening for novel 2. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a quick witchy graphic novel.
