I'm intrigued! This snippet has me wanting to read more. I can relate to Emsy being a teenager, living it up in California and not wanting to suddenly pack up and leave her friends and everything she knows. But I am definitely curious to find out why her parents moved their family away from the East Coast coven and why Ben's family was attacked. And what is the succession ceremony Preston was talking about? I also like the racial and ethnic diversity of the characters so far.
