I love a good historical novel, especially novels set in the 20th century, so I was pretty excited to check this one out. Unfortunately, there were a lot of red flags for me... The male lead working for the Nazi regime? The way the author wrote the female lead? Calling an African character "untamed"? Just... no. There was some promise, but this author's writing style and choices are not for me.
